Color Your World

This grownup world we live in

has forgotten how to play.

I want to be a rainbow

in a world that’s shades of gray.

Like sweet pink cotton candy

or a purple dinosaur

or fancy red stillettos

on a shiny black dance floor;

Like a brand new box of crayons

or a striped hot air balloon

or a yellow beach umbrella

at a crystal clear lagoon…

This grownup world we live in

has forgotten how to play.

I want to be a rainbow

in a world that’s shades of gray.

Inspired by the prompt at OctPoWriMo – stop by and read the linked up poems of some amazing writers!
