Ode to a Red Tulip

Oh vibrant red tulip,

What a joyful surprise you are!

In a garden with others of your kind you would merely blend in

And be one of many.

Instead you dared plant yourself in this random open field of nothing special,

Daring to rise up boldly and demand attention.

Grounded and strong, though seemingly out of place,

A beauty among the weeds and tall grasses,

Unafraid of being noticed,

Waving to passersby, almost daring them to notice you.

Your strength is admirable.

Your beauty is unmatched by your surroundings.

Your brilliant red silky petals punctuates the dull, cloudy day

And give me hope.
