Inspired by the #1 song on my birthday in 1967

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Is not an entitlement.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Must be earned.

Usually if given, it is received.

But not always.

Some disrespect flagrantly

But expect the opposite in return.

Acting as if unaware of displayed rudeness.

Whatever happened to

R-E-S-P-E-C-T?

Used to be the standard for

Elders, teachers, preachers.

No more.

Seems that now

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Is a commodity to be traded.

‘Tis a shame.
